Partial Hospitalization Program

A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for substance use disorders is a type of outpatient treatment program that offers intensive therapy and support for individuals struggling with addiction, but in a slightly different way than a full-time residential program.

Here's how it works: In a PHP, you attend the treatment program for several hours each day, typically five to seven days a week—our Orange County outpatient treatment program is Monday through Friday 9:30am-4:00pm. It's a bit like going to school or a job during the day. During this time, you participate in various forms of therapy, which could include group counseling, individual psychotherapy, and possibly activities like writing and creative projects. These sessions are designed to help you understand your substance use from the inside out, learn coping strategies to function better in life, and develop skills to resist the urge to use substances.

PHP Intensive Treatment + Real Life

One of the key aspects of PHP is that you don't stay overnight at the facility. After the day's program, you go back home. This setup allows you to apply what you're learning in your real-life environment and gradually adjust to everyday life without the constant presence of substances.

PHPs are particularly helpful for those who have completed a residential treatment program and are transitioning back into their daily lives, or for those who need more support than what regular outpatient therapy can provide but don't require 24-hour supervision. It's a middle ground that offers structured support while allowing you to maintain some aspects of your normal life.

Why Is a Partial Hospitalization Program So Beneficial?

Affordability & Accessibility

Cost-effectiveness is a standout feature of PHPs compared to inpatient care. By eliminating overnight stays, they reduce overall costs, making intensive treatment more accessible. This affordability ensures more individuals receive the care they need without financial strain.

Flexibility & Personalization

PHPs adjust to individual needs, balancing treatment with daily life commitments like school or work. Each participant's therapy is tailored, enhancing relevance and effectiveness. This approach provides a personalized recovery journey, crucial for long-term success.

Community & Support

In PHPs, building a support network with peers is a key benefit. Regular interactions foster a community atmosphere, offering mutual support and shared experiences. The environment aids in developing social skills and gaining diverse perspectives on recovery.

Partial Hospitalization Programs are the right level of care for people who need all-day support.

What various services do PHPs offer?

  • Individual Therapy: One-on-one sessions with a therapist to talk about personal challenges, feelings, and progress in overcoming harmful substance use. It's a safe space to discuss anything on your mind.
  • Group Therapy: Meetings with other people in the program where everyone shares experiences and supports each other. It's a great way to learn from others and realize you're not alone in your journey.

  • Educational Workshops: Classes where you learn about addiction, its effects, and strategies to maintain sobriety. These workshops provide important knowledge that empowers you in your recovery.

  • Skill-Building Activities: Activities designed to teach you new ways to cope with stress, avoid triggers, and handle everyday challenges without relying on substances.

  • Relapse Prevention Planning: Creating a plan with your treatment team to help you stay healthy after the program. This includes identifying triggers and strategies to cope with them.
  • Aftercare Support: Guidance on what to do after completing the PHP, like joining support groups or continuing to get better with us for less hours per week. It ensures you have a plan to stay on track.

How You Can Pay For The Program

Figuring out how to pay for a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) can be a bit overwhelming, so we're here to help you through it. Our Admissions Coordinators work with you to explore how you can access the care you need in a way that fits your financial situation.

In-Network Insurance

Optum, Aetna, Magellan, Blue Shield, UHC

If our program is within your insurance's in-network providers, this typically means your insurance will cover a significant part of the costs, making it a more affordable option for you.

Out-Of-Network Coverage

Most other insurance companies

Even if we're not in your insurance network, you may still receive partial reimbursement for the program costs. However, this usually involves higher out-of-pocket expenses than in-network coverage.

Non-Insurance Options

Private payments

For those without insurance or seeking different payment methods, we offer alternatives like paying directly via credit card or setting up a payment plan to accommodate your financial situation.
